A Clean Life started as an idea and an ideal. Simply put our planet is groaning under the weight of our insatiable consumerism and waste.
Some stunning facts from National Geographic – June 7, 2019 :
- Half of all plastics ever manufactured have been made in the last 15 years!
- Production of plastic increased exponentially from 2.3 million tons in 1950 to 448 million tons by 2015 and is expected to double by 2050.
- Every year about 8 million tons of plastic waste escapes into the oceans.
- Plastics often contain additives making them stronger, more flexible, and durable, but many of these can extend the life of products with some need at least 400 years to break down.
Having built a career in the waste and recycling industry and witnessing firsthand the tonnage of this lifestyle it began to seep and weigh on my conscience. Our own impotence also began to play on my mind and rejecting the … “I am but a speck of dust” mentality I decided, in my own little way, maybe I could make, just a little different to how we use disposables in our everyday life.
So with that in mind, we decided the best, most useful thing we could do was research, practice, and educate, not just ourselves, but those around us, who we knew had a desire to lessen their footprint but, a lot of us, simply didn’t know how to begin.
This platform has now grown into a passion, and we choose what we sell and promote on here, with a completely ethical “no harm” mantra. Our only aim is to provide products that are multi-use, sustainable, biodegradable, and personal alternatives for you and your home.
As much as possible we research the supply arm of any products that are not made in Australia (obviously our preferred option) to ensure labor conditions are fair and equitable for all employees, particularly women and we reject absolutely any form of child labor.
So simply put, we have simplified and itemized products for you and your home, that are practical, ethical, recyclable, biodegradable, and sustainable. It’s clean and it’s our metaphor for a healthier planet with personal, individual, simple changes.
